JMJ SUPPORTS NATIONAL WALK FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Uncategorized

“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community.” – Anthony J. D’Angelo

JMJ Disability Serv Pty Ltd participants and staff took part in the Northern Territory leg of the simultaneous National Walk for Mental Health organised by the Mental Health Foundation Australia.  On its third year, and held at the George Brown Botanical Gardens, it aims to advocate for awareness, fight the stigma and rally for better mental health for all.

The walk is one of the major events of the national mental health month held in October each year. Themed “Building Resilience: Communities and Connections“ this year, it was attended by various community leaders and representatives.  Bill Yan MLA – Shadow Minister for Health and a proud member of the Namatjira Electorate, came down from Alice Springs to give the formal address and lead the walk.

JMJ’s team member Michelle Shaw and participants Niccy and Carlina proudly donned their blue t-shirts in support of this initiative.

As one of the NDIS registered providers here in the Top End, it’s important for those involved in the critical sector of disability support, to take a stand and support this advocacy.
